Tongue scraper

19th century

Tongue cleaning has long been a known practice for maintaining proper oral hygiene. A commonly cited benefit of tongue cleaning is a reduction in halitosis, or bad breath. By removing bacteria, decaying food matter, and dead skin cells from the tongue, an individual gains better oral hygiene.
