Cast iron sauce pan

19th century

Heavy cast iron pans have been used since the first settlers arrived in North America. Cast iron is highly prized for its even heat distribution and versatile use. It can be used over an open fire, in an oven or on top of a stove. This small sauce pan has a long handle that would have made it easier to retrieve from an open fire.
