Kettle

19th century

Cast iron cookware lasts a lifetime, is inexpensive, and provides an even distribution of heat. It can be used on a stove, in an oven, over a fire or in a fire. This dutch oven has three legs which made it easier to stack coals underneath the pot. Coals could also be placed on top of the lid, creating an environment similar to an oven.
