Rolling pin

19th century

Rolling pins are first known from Etruscan murals dating between the ninth and fifth centuries B.C. Used by agricultural societies, rolling pins were used to flatten breads and pastas made from grains. Most rolling pins were carved and made out of a solid piece of wood and it was not until the late 19th century that a wooden dowel was inserted inside the rolling and attached to the handles.
