In weaving, weft or woof is the yarn which is drawn under and over parallel warp yarns to create a fabric. The yarn is held on the shuttle until it is used. The yarn is made of wool, flax or cotton. Hand looms were the original weaver's tool and were used until they were replaced by automated looms during the industrial revolution.
