Wash stand

1850

This wash stand, manufactured in 1850, held a bowl shaped basin in the pierced upper shelf and a water filled pitcher on the bottom shelf. Most people used a pitcher of water and a basin to wash because tubs and bathing were an uncommon luxury during the early 1800's.
