Apron

19th century

An apron was an essential staple for most women to wear in the nineteenth century. It is a piece of clothing that is worn to cover the front of the body to help protect clothing from the everyday wear and tear that occurs when working in the kitchen. The apron would also help keep the woman's clothing clean, since clothing was not washed very often. This apron is homespun with tape ties.
